Tim Robards recalled the horrifying moment when two people nearly drowned on Sydney’s Bondi Beach before he stepped in to save them
‘Happy New Year. People. Right down here on Bondi Beach. I was just doing a few laps in the soft sand and then I saw two people get swept up in a crack,” he said through gasping breaths.
“So I had to put my lifeguard hat on and go outside and grab one of them and drag it back to shore.”
Tim said he was then met halfway by a Bondi lifeguard who is believed to have saved the other civilian.
“Anyway, that was a bit of a fuss, Happy New Year. It’s quite a busy day down here. I’ll go home and have a beer,” he added.
