After a demanding pre-season in Bolivia and friendlies in Lima, Cienciano’s side returned to Cusco, the city he will defend in the Liga 1 tournament and the Copa Sudamericana.
Led by Colombian Leonel Álvarez, they arrived in Cusco at 10:00 a.m., to the surprise of many fans who did not hesitate to ask the players for a souvenir.
In the afternoon they completed their first training in the city of Anta, where their large complex is being improved and built. On leaving the terminal, sports manager Alessandro Morán expressed his satisfaction with the preseason that Dad of America is developing. He also confirmed that up to three more friendlies will be played before the start of the local tournament on January 21.
“This Sunday we have our presentation against Magallanes (Chile) to which we would like to invite all fans of the club. Then we’ll return to La Paz to face Bolívar on the day of his presentation, then we don’t rule out playing Cusco FC,” said the 2003 South American footballer.
The manager also explained that three more players are expected to be hired to complete the squad, two of them foreigners. “We’re looking for a strong midfielder and a striker,” he added.
Likewise, Alessandro Morán assured that the nationalization of Argentine attacker Danilo Carando is on the right track. The goalscorer would not take a place as a foreigner in future tournaments.
Regarding the schedule and game for the Copa Sudamericana, he pointed out that the games for the local tournament will be a good indicator of how they will reach the international tournament. Cienciano plays in the first appointment of the league 1 against the “U” in Lima.
