Alan’s mechanic, Tyrone, has been involved in a stop-start relationship with Fiz Stape, played by Jennie McAlpine, for more than two decades.

But the pair eventually tied the knot in a romantic episode on Christmas Day after Tyrone planned a secret ceremony for Fiz.

The mechanic pulled out all the stops for a special day for his love and did his best to keep the details top secret.

But things went awry on the big day when the bride disappeared when her car broke down while shopping for a turkey at the last minute after Fiz was upset by Tyrone’s apparent disinterest in Christmas.

After Tyrone sent the guests away, Fiz eventually made it to the Chariot Square Hotel to exchange vows in a romantic ceremony during the celebratory special.

To mark the occasion, Alan and Jennie were recently surprised by the show bosses with a celebratory video compilation of their best moments.

The soap opera favorites sat down with their Corrie co-star Colson Smith for Catch Up With Colson on Coronation Street’s YouTube channel.

They saw some of the key moments of their love story on screen, from their first kiss in 2001 to their celebratory battle on the cobblestones last year.

Speaking of the video, Alan recently said: “It was quite an interesting thing because we were shown various clips and I honestly couldn’t remember it.

“All these different moments in her life … it’s 20 years I guess, but there were times where we had real, big, passionate kisses and we looked at each other and I was like, ‘I don’t remember. .. I’m glad she’s not doing so well!”

While Jennie added, “It’s nice to see some of the early scenes, it’s been so long and you forget things you shot together.”

She added, “It’s very funny looking back at some of the hair and fashion choices!”
