Prince Harry says he doesn’t see himself returning to his old role in the royal family

Prince Harry is a guest on “60 Minutes” with CNN host Anderson Cooper, which airs Sunday (8th) on CBS and Paramount+. And today (3) a trailer was released showing the Duke of Sussex saying he doesn’t see himself returning to his former role in the royal family.

“Can you imagine a day when you would return as a fulltime member of the royal family?” asked Cooper. Harry, 38, quickly dismisses the idea.

“No,” replied the prince. The interview will be the first he gives to a US TV network to talk about “Spare,” his memoir, which will be released on January 10.

Harry previously revealed the work would be a reflection on grief, love and healing.

To promote the book in the UK, the Duke of Sussex gave an interview to ITV’s Tom Bradby.

Harry spoke about his and Meghan’s decision to step down as senior royals, why he believes “silence is treason,” and his thoughts on reconciliation with his father King Charles and brother Prince William.

“It never had to be like this,” Harry said to Bradby. The Duke of Sussex also addressed the “leaking and planting” of stories in the British press before telling Bradby:

“I want a family, not an institution. I want my father back. I want my brother back,” he added.

Already in the “60 Minutes” interview, Prince Harry addressed allegations of “leaks” in the media and how the negative stories affected him and Meghan. He also told Cooper why he is raising these matters publicly.

“Every time I tried to do this privately there were briefings and leaks and stories against me and my wife. You know, the family motto is ‘never complain, never explain’…it’s just a motto and it really isn’t. ..hang in there,” he said.

Spare hits Netflix shelves a month after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Harry & Meghan documentary.
