Aaron Rodgers and the Packers have fought their way back into the playoffs after a 4-8 start, and the Green Bay quarterback has blamed the “force of manifestation” for the significant turnaround.
Green Bay looked pretty much out of the postseason picture after a Week 12 loss at the Eagles, but the defense has stiffened in the last four contests as the Packers reignited their season.
And the eclectic Rodgers believes the team’s form owes much to off-field influences.
Aaron Rodgers and the Packers are now down to just one win from an unlikely place in the playoffs
“I believe in the power of manifestation and I believe in momentum and I believe very strongly in the power of spirit,” he said after last weekend’s 41-17 win over the Vikings.
“And when you start believing in something, some wondrous things can happen.
Manifestation can be defined as thinking ambitious thoughts in hopes of realizing them in real life.
Whether it’s a job, a relationship, or in Rodgers’ case, a winning streak, the idea is that believing in your goal—combined with taking proactive steps toward it—will make it happen.
Rodgers has thrown 25 touchdowns and 11 interceptions for Green Bay this season
While it’s unclear what steps Rodgers took to reverse the team’s fortunes, the team now sits on the brink of the playoffs with a win and win over the Lions on Sunday.
“I’ve come to terms with the fact that some of those realities are possible,” Rodgers said of the prospect of the team missing the playoffs.
“And when I went there, I had peace about it. I was at peace with all of this. Whatever should happen, I was surrendered to this reality with a determination that we could always return to this.
Rodgers, who has thrown his most interceptions in a season since 2010, has also spoken out publicly about his use of ayahuasca in the past — and the apparent positive effects it has on his game.
Ayahuasca is a South American psychoactive brew used in shamanic spiritual medicine
South American hallucinogenic tea is touted as an alternative treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression, with shamans considering the psychedelic a “wisdom plant” that allows entry into the spiritual world.
“I did ayahuasca in 2020 and won two MVPs,” Rodgers told Fox Sports in September. “I don’t think it’s a coincidence. I don’t really believe in coincidences.
“I believe in science and synchronicities and I really feel like that has allowed me to have a greater love for the game I play, a greater love for my teammates and I had maybe my best season in 2020 career and then followed up with even greater integration of many of those lessons last year.’
