Ana de Armas revealed how she recreated Marilyn Monroe scenes while promoting her movie Blonde on Tuesday’s Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
The 34-year-old actress, who looked lovely in a long black dress with a high slit, was asked by Jimmy, 48, if she had to film each take “a thousand times” to get it right.
“Often, yes. Andrew is an incredible filmmaker and also very detailed and precise and it was really important for him and me and all the departments to really get those recreations done,” Ana said, referring to Blond director Andrew Dominik, 55.

“So we had two monitors. Our film and then Marilyn’s film and they were both playing at the same time. And if we didn’t do it right, we had to do it again,” Ana said.
Ana said the attention to detail was so precise that even her hairstylist tripped up.
“There was a moment when my hairstylist kept coming to me and the monitor to fix my hair and she, poor thing, made so many trips that I just went to the monitors with her,” Ana said. ‘…And I realized that she’s looking at Marilyn trying to fix my hair.’
“She didn’t even look at you,” Jimmy said.

“Yes, she wasn’t looking at me,” Ana confirmed.
“So yeah it’s a testament to that, you know the incredible job that the art department and the hair and the makeup and the wardrobe did,” she added.
Ana previously shared in her interview that she was on set filming a stunt scene for her upcoming John Wick spin-off, Ballerina, when she learned she was being nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Feature Film – Drama – her work in Blond was nominated.

“So I’m on set and they were like they were changing lenses between takes or something and my assistant comes in with a phone, so with a very serious face and just gives me something to read and it was this one Text chain.” Ana said.
“And I start reading, and then I realize what I’m reading and I scream, but of course it was a stunt scene, so everyone was really worried because they thought something was going to happen,” she admitted.
“I thought, ‘No, no, no. It’s okay,” she said.

Ana said she was in Prague, Czechoslovakia filming Ballerina with Keanu Reeves, 58, who plays the titular killer in the John Wick film series.
She said they still have a month and realized she can’t complain about filming difficult stunt scenes because Keanu does it without a murmur.

Ana later played a new movie title guessing game with Jimmy and showed that she’s a movie buff by dropping relevant clues.
Tasked with describing The Shining in just one word, she deftly told Jimmy “redrum,” leading to a correct guess.
Blonde premiered at the 79th Venice International Film Festival in September and had a limited theatrical run ahead of its September 28 streaming release on Netflix.
In addition to being a nominee, Ana is also a presenter at the upcoming 80th Golden Globe Awards which will be held on January 10th in Beverly Hills, California.
