The baggage worker “was choked inside the engine” of the plane, the National Transportation Safety Board wrote in a press release. The exact circumstances of this tragic accident are not known.
Authorities have not released the name or age of the victim, who was an American Airlines employee. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time,” said Wade A. Davis, the airport’s executive director.

The accident happened a few hours before New Year’s Eve on Saturday, December 31, 2022. The flight was scheduled to connect Montgomery with Dallas-Fort Worth, according to television network WSFA 12.
US aviation authorities and the Transportation Safety Agency have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances of this fatal accident. According to US media, a first report should be published within two to three weeks.
