Chrysler unveils two-seater cockpit concept with “infotainment system” and AI

It may look a bit like the interior of Knight Rider’s Back to the Future DeLorean or KITT, but it’s actually a true Chrysler car brand concept.

Stellantis company unveiled the two-seater cockpit design at the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

It features a 37-inch glass “infotainment system,” an AI assistant that can plan routes based on your calendar, and “wellness experiences” that include meditation, karaoke, and a DJ game.

The AI assistant, known as MyDay, would “welcome” the driver based on biometric recognition while informing them about the vehicle’s charge level and weather forecast.

There’s no sign yet of what Chrysler’s first electric vehicle will look like from the outside, but this concept offers a glimpse of what the cars of the future could look like from the inside.

The cockpit concept also includes self-driving functions.

This level 3 autonomous driving would allow motorists to multitask and access features such as video conferencing.

The AI featured in the design could also recommend places to have lunch with convenient parking and charging options, while “waking up” a smart home upon arrival at a property.

The demonstrator even features a so-called “Synthesis Music Experience” that allows customers to create and synthesize their own music while the car is driving itself.

STLA Smart Cockpit, STLA Brain and STLA AutoDrive will make their debut in a production vehicle of Chrysler’s first battery electric vehicle, expected in 2025.

The car brand billed the concept as “Harmony in Motion”.

“Chrysler has been creating ingenious products and technologies for mainstream customers for nearly 100 years, and Chrysler will continue that legacy of innovation by being the first company to bring the STLA Smart Cockpit to North America,” said Chris Feuell, CEO of the Chrysler brand at Stellantis.

“The Chrysler synthesis shown at CES 2023 represents the future of Chrysler’s brand design, technology and customer experience by introducing customer-centric design and intuitive, seamlessly connected technology for real life.”

She added, “Chrysler is focused on delivering Harmony In Motion for every aspect of the customer experience across the product, technology, buying and ownership experience, resulting in harmony with the planet, our products, services and customer experiences.”

The Synthesis cockpit design was inspired by Chrysler’s Airflow, which was presented in concept form at last year’s CES.

The STLA Brain works in tandem with the STLA Smart Cockpit infotainment system, which features a 37-inch sculpted black glass screen for both front occupants.

Meanwhile, Chrysler says its advanced AI technology will adjust and improve the user interface over time, with the ability to “learn” owner preferences.

“The virtual personal assistant helps make life easier by automatically installing updates, synchronizing with calendars for timetables and route planning, enabling multitasking in autonomous driving, recommending parking and charging options, supporting e-commerce services, seamlessly integrating with devices connects and intelligent is homes and offers quiet in-vehicle experiences,” said the car brand.

“The day-in-the-life experience begins when the day begins, when the vehicle ‘welcomes’ the owner and creates an intelligent itinerary for the day.

“Advanced AI technology handles autonomous driving, finding parking spots and charging ports, and more in a cockpit enhanced by an electrified, clean and intelligent connected experience.”
