She then noted that salad costs six dollars in her area, along with a clip of Remy Ma saying, “This is where I start to get annoyed.”

Cardi is no stranger to voicing her opinions on economic, social, and political issues online. In her meeting with David Letterman on Season 4 of the chat legend’s Netflix series My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, Cardi explained her reasons for speaking out.

“I think people in your position have a strength in terms of political activism and changing the world and changing the way people feel and think, not just about themselves but about the problems of the world in general, is wonderful,” Letterman tells the rapper.

“I don’t really put a lot of political stuff into my music, but I used the FK of my platform,” she replied. “And I also used my platform when I was a dancer. Because you might think people aren’t looking, but they are.”

She continued, “I mean, I’m a hood chick and I’m from the Bronx. A lot of people relate to me and follow me because they want to see how I dress, they want to see my lifestyle. I feel like I also have a responsibility to let them know, ‘Hey, while you’re here checking out my outfit and music, see what’s going on in this part of the world.'”
