The release of Spare, Prince Harry’s autobiography, due out in UK bookstores next week, promises to spark even more excitement among members of the royal family.
In a specific segment of the book published today by The Guardian newspaper, Lady Di’s youngest son recounts a physical attack he suffered at the hands of his older brother William at Nottingham Cottage, the royal residence where Harry was living in 2019.
Harry claims he had a fight with William over his wife Meghan Markle, who the elder called “rude, argumentative and difficult”. Harry came to his companion’s defense, accusing his brother of playing the “parrot of press narrative” about Meghan.
The two exchanged insults and, noticing William’s upset, Harry followed him into the kitchen, where he offered him a glass of water. “Willy, I can’t talk to you when you’re like this,” the youngest would have said.
“He lowered the water, called me another name, and then came towards me. It all happened very quickly: he grabbed my collar, tore my collar and threw me to the ground,” Harry reports in the sequence.
“I fell into the dog bowl which broke on my back, the pieces cut me. I lay there stunned for a moment, then got up and told him to get out,” added Meghan’s husband.
Harry further claims William apologized shortly after and asked him not to tell Meghan about the attack. The youngest thought about accommodating but changed his mind after his wife discovered “scratches and bruises” on his back.
Harry also describes the actress’ reaction to the report of William’s attack. “She wasn’t that surprised and she wasn’t that angry. She was just terribly sad,” assures Kate Middleton’s brotherinlaw.
