Natasha Lyonne plays the “human lie detector” who solves crimes in the “Poker Face” trailer

Natasha Lyonne showed off her talent for solving crimes with little more than intuition in the first trailer for her upcoming detective series, Poker Face.

In the video released Thursday, the 43-year-old Russian Doll star plays a former casino maid on the run as she uses her incredible deductive skills to solve crimes.

Created and partially written and directed by Knives Out mastermind Rian Johnson, the series features a bevy of famous faces including Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Adrien Brody, Chloë Sevigny and Jameela Jamil among many others.

The series will take a mystery-of-the-week approach, and Johnson is available to write and direct several episodes, while Lyonne himself will direct one episode and Zola director Janicza Bravo will direct the final episode of the first squadron will lead.

‘What’s it like always knowing the truth?’ a smooth-talking Brody questions Lyonne’s character, Charlie Cale, at the beginning of the trailer.

“There’s nothing mystical about it—I could just say it,” Charlie explains in her raspy voice after seeing her puzzle over something.

Brody’s character makes it clear that she can tell when “someone is lying”.

But then Benjamin Bratt, who plays the head of security at the casino where Charlie works, joins the conversation and adds a spooky element.

Charlie is clearly in danger when she is next seen running down a hallway, dodging a bullet from an armed gunman.

Hellboy star Ron Perlman speaks to Bratt as he tells him, “You’re going to find Charlie Cale and bring her to me.”

Danger sends Lyonne’s character on a cross-country road trip as she tries to escape from the men pursuing her.

She realizes her truth-determining skills could help solve crimes, not just card cheats, after seeing a body rolled away.

‘It wasn’t an accident!’ She says. “I think there was a murder.”

Then, “Everything, Everywhere at Once” star Stephanie Hsu is seen picking up a dagger, only to drop it screaming when she realizes it’s covered in blood.

“You watch too much Dateline,” guest Ellen Barkin jokes while her hair is pounded into a wig.

“I could tell she was lying,” says Charlie in a scene with Luis Guzmán.

“So what is that, a woman’s intuition?” he asks her.

‘No! It’s not like a tampon ad, OK. It’s a real thing,” she says, annoyed.

Bratt then ups the sinister factor when he tells Charlie she’s coming with him, either in the front seat or in the trunk.

She reacts comically by turning around and running away.

The last scene shows a conversation in which another woman can’t get over the fact that she is a “human lie detector”.

“Have you ever played? Because you could make a lot of money,” she says, unaware that Charlie used to work in a casino.

Poker Face launches on Peacock on January 26th with its first four episodes, followed by a weekly schedule.
