Dennis Carvalho shows improvement and infection status is under control, says Bulletin

The 75yearold actor Dennis Carvalho, admitted ten days ago to the Copa Star Hospital in Copacabana, in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro, is in better clinical condition, according to the latest health unit bulletin. He is treating blood poisoning and the infectious disease is under control, a release is not yet forecast.

“The Copa Star Hospital announces that the patient Dennis de Carvalho remains hospitalized under the care of his residents and hospital team. His clinical condition is better and the infection status is currently under control,” the statement said.

The actor, director and voice actor has been in the hospital since December 26. Also known as sepsis, the condition it treats is an inflammatory response in the body after infection that can lead to organ failure. Two days ago, Deborah Evelyn, his exwife, updated her painting for Patrícia Kogut’s column in O Globo newspaper.

“The condition is still very serious, but that it is stable is good news. He is strong and fights. We receive countless messages of love, strength and affection for him. I’m sure he’s getting all of that,” said his exwife and friend.

Dennis started work early. He did his first test at the age of 11 for TV Paulista to star in the soap opera Oliver Twist. In 1964 he joined TV Tupi and took part in numerous teleteatros, but he enjoyed a successful career with TV Globo. The actor left the station in the middle of this year, reported columnist Patricia Kogut. His contract ended after 47 years of work.

In his resume he has played 28 soap operas as an actor and nine characters in the films. Dennis has also directed 36 soap operas throughout his career, most of them written by author Gilberto Braga, his amazing television partner. As a voice actor, he provides the voice of Roger “Race” Bannon on “Jonny Quest”, Corporal Rusty on “Rin Tin Tin”, Captain Kirk on “Star Trek” and Jerry on “The Time Tunnel”.
