The Alberta team captain quickly put that plateau behind him against the New York Islanders. He was involved in a Leon Draisaitl goal in front of his supporters in the first half, then hit 500 assists on a Kailer Yamamoto net before the end of the signing.

McDavid also joined forwards Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux and defenseman Bobby Orr. He needed 527 games for this, also behind Peter Stastny (507).
