Cary Elwes bitten by rattlesnake reveals what happened to his hand

Cary Elwes shows off the horrific results of a rattlesnake bite on his finger – and be prepared because the picture posted below is unimaginably disgusting.

The British-born actor, 59, who played Westley in ‘The Princess Bride’, shared the picture to Instagram on Monday and joked in his caption that the bite didn’t come from a ‘ROUS’ or unusually sized rodent – that gigantic rat-like creature Creatures that Westley and his love Princess Buttercup (Robin Wright) fought with in the 1987 film.

“Not bitten by a ROUS, but bitten by a rattlesnake. Thank you to the staff at Malibu Urgent Care, the LA County Fire Department, and the staff and medical professionals at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center for their amazing care. I’m recovering well thanks to all these wonderful people,” Elwes wrote in his caption.

Elwes’ Hollywood friends wished him a speedy recovery.

“Wow, that’s an ugly man. Hope you recover soon,” wrote musician Sean Ono Lennon.

“Ouuuuuuch!” wrote former Little House on the Prairie star Melissa Gilbert.

“Oh dear. omg As???? Please tell me so that nothing happens to me!!!

Over the years, Princess Bride fans have clamored for Elwes and Wright to reunite. In April 2020, 33 years after the popular fantasy rom-com premiered, the pair said, “As you wish.”

The co-stars appeared together — well, virtually — in a pandemic-themed Disney+ promo to promote “The Princess Bride” would be on the streaming service.

“Are you bored yet?” Elwes asks Wright in the laugh-inducing clip.

“No!” replies Wright. “Are you?”

“Not once,” he tells her. “But when I was stuck in front of my TV, I would think of some really fun things to watch, like the ‘Princess Bride’ movie that we did together.”

The sweet promo ends with Wright effusively calling her on-screen former love “my Westley.”
