The Epiphany long weekend is heralded with good weather, but with the holiday season approaching, the good weather that Africa’s anticyclone has brought so far is on its last legs. In fact, weekend sunshine and above-average temperatures give way to winter.
Already on Saturday, January 7, the iLMeteo.it site notes that the first rains are expected in Lombardy, eastern Piedmont, Liguria and upper Tuscany. The situation worsened on Sunday with the emergence of strong winds from the south-west, heavy snowfall in the Alps and widespread rain.
Rain is expected in the north-west, in Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio in particular, starting in the morning. On Sunday afternoon, if the forecast is 100% confirmed, the bad weather is expected to intensify significantly with strong phenomena in Liguria, upper Tuscany, northern Lombardy and Triveneto.
Snowfalls above 900 meters are expected in the Alps, while snowfalls in the Apennines are initially at altitudes above 1,500 meters and will partially decrease from Monday.
In detail:
Friday 6th: in the north fog or low clouds in the plains, sunny in the mountains, in the middle cloudy and sometimes cloudy sky, in the south sometimes cloudy sky;
Saturday 7th: in the north in the west first rain showers, in the middle partly cloudy sky, especially in the Tyrrhenian regions, with the onset of rain showers, in the south sunny;
Sunday 8: in the north from west to east extensive rains and snow above 900 meters in the Alps, in the middle isolated rains especially in the Tyrrhenian regions, in the south the weather gradually worsened.
