Coronation Street
Beauty and the Geek is an all time soap favourite. This age-old tale follows a well-read academic who is often no stranger to a regional Star Trek conference and, to his amazement, wins over the prettiest girl in town.
It’s a tale to warm our cockles, up to the inevitable moment when Beauty turns heads with the attractive physique and cheeky smile of a Gymfit newbie. This week, the fugitive Daisy races to this point, her engagement ring from Daniel barely warm on her finger before fluttering her lashes elsewhere.
Daisy has her heart set on a perfect Instagram wedding. However, their dream venue is way out of a barmaid’s price range and whatever Daniel is doing now (there has been talk of going back to teaching, although he may still be serving these four customers at the bistro every lunchtime).
When the hotel reveals they could do the wedding for half price on a weekday in May, Daisy’s cock-a-hoop. But Daniel doesn’t want to get married anytime soon.

Who is on Team Jacob?
Corrie’s Jack James Ryan believes viewers will side with his character when Jacob’s father Damon forces him into a drug ring this week. “I hope they see that he’s doing it to protect others,” says Jack.
Yawning, Daisy pushes on. The next stop is entertainment. She knows which DJ she wants, so she shows up at his gig hoping for a bargain by promoting him via her Insta following (which surely can be little more than Jenny, a couple of factory girls, and possibly Ken, because he once pressed the wrong button).
However, the DJ seems more taken with Daisy’s real charms than her virtual ones. Daisy flirts to oil the wheels and the two post a selfie together.
When Daniel later asks for a word, Daisy expects an argument. But Dan has changed his mind – the swanky wedding is back!
However, Daisy’s joy soon fades when an impressive bouquet of flowers from the DJ arrives at the house for her. Quickly covering up, Daisy pretends she bought the flowers for Daniel.
But if this DJ is keen on making cute music with her, could Daisy be about to hit a bum with Daniel?
EAST OF
Lolas (pictured with Jay) is determined to get back to work at the salon in Eastenders, despite Billy and Jay’s concerns
Zack’s blast from the past
This week, Zack experiences a blast from the past when newcomer Brett arrives in town. Zack is suspicious of his old friend and warns Sharon against hiring him at the gym. But when Zack gets Brett to leave, he’s thrown into turmoil by his former pal’s revelations. Brett is a familiar face to soap fans. Fabrizio Santino, who plays him, spent two years in Hollyoaks as the nice but somber Ziggy Roscoe, starting in 2013. Ziggy’s mother, Sandy, was played by Gillian Taylforth, aka Kathy Beale. It’s a little soapy world.
At first, it seemed like the purpose of Lola’s brain tumor storyline was simply to rip out viewers’ hearts and pound them into tiny little pieces. And while there’s little doubt that the tragic tale will do just that in the months to come, it quickly becomes apparent that this is truly a story about love, family, and getting on with things on your own terms.
It’s finally giving actress Danielle Harold – aka Lola – a chance to shine after years on the sidelines, while Jamie Borthwick (who plays Lola’s fiancé Jay) has long been one of Walford’s real gems.
This week, Lola is determined to get back to work in the salon despite concerns from Billy and Jay. Lola is soon in her element preparing Denise for a date night with Jack.
But as her fiancé and her “pops” continue to argue, “Lola has a word,” as they say in Walford. She insists to Jay that she just wants to enjoy the things she loves while she still can.
Jay takes notice and – as so often happens in Albert Square – this heart-to-heart between the two sparks a big idea.
Later, Lola and Jay invite Ben and Callum over for a family dinner. The boys fear they are about to receive a disturbing update on Lola’s condition.
But relief reigns supreme as Jay and Lola happily tell their buddies what they have planned…
EMMERDALEN
Now Mack’s troubles are coming home to settle…
In Emmerdale, Mack (pictured right) worries when Chloe (pictured left) moves in with him and Charity after she breaks down and Sarah’s worries grow
When you live in a town as small as Emmerdale, it’s bad enough that the young girl around the corner is getting pregnant. But when the mom-to-be moves in with you and your unsuspecting fiancée, things can get too cramped to comfort you, love scammer Mack discovers.
After Chloe collapses, her friend Sarah is determined to do something to help her. Sarah takes Charity and Mack to the hospital and insists Chloe move in with them.
That’s obviously the last thing Chloe wants after vowing to keep her baby daddy a secret from everyone in the village. Soon Chloe tries to wriggle out of the arrangement.
But Charity, once a terrified pregnant young girl herself, can’t help but agree to Sarah’s plan and insists Chloe come home with them.
Meanwhile, Mack is filled with guilt over the difficult time Chloe is having and tells her he will do whatever he can to support her. However, he’s also adamant he doesn’t want to look at his biggest mistake of all time over his bowl of oatmeal every morning (in fact, if Charity finds out about the baby, he’ll probably get the oatmeal – and then some – dumped over his head !)
Mack soon devises a plan to get Chloe out of the house. But could Charity smell a rat… a big fat love rat?
