Not only are the Brady brothers and Matthew Tkachuk playing in the same division this season, they also have a chance to play on the same team in the National Hockey League (NHL) All-Star game. That makes mom proud!

“I think our mother is the most excited. Lots of people will come to see us, it’s exciting,” Ottawa Senators captain Brady Tkachuk said in a news conference on Friday.
In the Atlantic section, Matthew Tkachuk was selected by the Florida Panthers. The two brothers had competed in the Stars Classic in 2020, though not on the same team as the eldest wore the colors of the Calgary Flames.
The representatives of the Pacific won 5 to 4 against those of the Atlantic. The Tkachuks had exchanged a few shoulder shots during this finale, which was down a $1 million check. This time they can swap the puck.
“It got bigger when I found out that my brother will be there too,” Matthew admitted. It will be very exciting for our family. […] They are very, very, very excited. I think our sister will try to skip school to attend the weekend celebrations.
A first
At no point in their careers have Keith Tkachuk’s sons played on the same team. They should have less chemistry than the brothers Henrik and Daniel Sedin, for example, but the other formations just have to behave themselves.
“We’ve never played together so it should be interesting,” Brady said. I’m trying to remember a time when we shared ice cream [dans la même équipe]but it hasn’t been since we were two or three years old.”
“Throughout our careers, we dreamed of playing in the NHL and then we dreamed of playing together,” Matthew said. We didn’t know where to go, maybe with the American team, but ultimately it’s going to be one of the biggest weekends in our sport. It is an honor to be under the stars.”
When their selections were announced, Matthew and Brady Tkachuk led their respective teams in scoring with 47 and 39 points.
