$1.85 million, that’s the amount CD Projekt Red paid its investors for lying about the game’s deplorable quality at launch in December 2020 regarding the PS4 and Xbox One versions. We remember that when the game was released, the Polish studio was taken to court by the Rosen law firm, which represented the investors, demanding damages for false or misleading statements. CD Projekt Red had not revealed that Cyberpunk 2077 is “virtually unplayable” on PS4 and Xbox consoles and that the launch of those versions in no way reflects the true final quality of the product. A representative for the plaintiffs had estimated the total potential damage at $11 million. The judiciary ultimately withheld a fine of $1.85 million, which is 16.8% of the estimated recoverable damages, or compensation of approximately $0.49 per qualifying share of CD Projekt titles. This amount is also used to pay class plaintiff fees, administration fees, taxes, attorneys’ fees and costs, and plaintiff bonuses.
