Trevor Bauer sues accusers of domestic violence, attorney

Trevor Bauer has filed another lawsuit related to domestic violence allegations from last year.

On Monday, Bauer filed a lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Central District of California Southern Division against his accuser and her attorney, Niranjan Fred Thiagarajah, alleging defamation and tortious interference.

Bauer, a 31-year-old pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, previously filed defamation lawsuits against Deadspin, The Athletic and former Athletic writer Molly Knight in connection with the same case.

“[The accuser] fabricated sexual assault allegations against plaintiff Trevor Bauer, pursued false criminal and civil charges against him, made false and malicious statements about him, and generated a media blitz based on their lies,” the lawsuit reads.

“[The accuser’s] The motives for their false claims and statements are now clear. She wanted to destroy Mr. Bauer’s reputation and his baseball career, to attract attention
for themselves and deprive Mr. Bauer of millions of dollars. [The accuser] was assisted in these efforts by her lawyer, defendant Niranjan Fred Thiagarajah. Although a Los Angeles Superior Court judge declined [the accuser’s] False allegations and the Los Angeles County District Attorney found them unworthy of criminal prosecution, the damage to Mr. Bauer was extreme.”

In February, the Los Angeles Attorney’s Office announced it would not be investigating the sexual assault allegations that the former Cy Young winner faced last year. Earlier, a California Superior Court judge denied the accuser’s request for an injunction.

Bauer was accused of beating and choking a woman unconscious during sex. The pitcher admitted to having rough sex with the accuser but said it was consensual. During the trial, Bauer’s attorney claimed the pitcher had text messages from the accuser “about being ‘choked’ and slapped in the face” and that “the woman passed the night and went without incident to continue to see Mr. Bauer notify with friendly and flirtatious banter.”

The MLB and MLBPA agreed to place Bauer on paid administrative leave at the end of June. They’ve continued to build on it week after week throughout this season.

“After their first sexual encounter [the accuser] continued to pursue Mr. Bauer so she could have rough sex with him again, but this time she told Mr. Bauer that she wanted to have a rougher sexual experience,” the lawsuit continues. “Unwittingly by Mr. Bauer, who believed [the accuser] only expressed her sexual preferences, [the accuser’s] The goal was to get Mr. Bauer to have a rougher sexual experience so that she could later claim that that sexual experience was not what she requested, thereby laying the groundwork for a financial settlement.

“To implement their plan, [the accuser] Mr. Bauer made it clear that she was interested in engaging in even harder sex a second time and shared with her in detail the sexual experience she desired. During their second sexual encounter, the two again had consensual rough sex that included the rough sexual acts that meant [the accuser] requested.”

The lawsuit alleges the accuser filed a false police report alleging that Bauer “sexually assaulted her during their second sexual encounter, by choking her unconscious twice, repeatedly punching her in the face and vagina, and scratching her face.” “.

He denies choking her without her consent and denies hitting her in the face or vagina or scratching her “in any way”.

The lawsuit also alleges that the accuser failed to retain electronic communications, saying she “willfully deleted numerous text messages, videos and photos from her phone, including text messages with her two closest confidants, immediately after her second sexual intercourse.” Meeting with Mr. Bauer.”

Bauer is represented in the suit by Blair Brown and Jon Fetterolf of Zuckerman Spaeder LLP and Shawn Holley and Kate Mangels of Kinsella Weitzman Iser Kump Holley LLP.

Niranjan Fred Thiagarajah, the plaintiff’s attorney named in the lawsuit, has not responded to a request for comment at the time of publication.
