Meghan Markle ‘not welcome’ at Balmoral as Queen lay dying, Harry confirms

Meghan Markle was banned from Balmoral by King Charles while Queen Elizabeth lay dying last year, Prince Harry confirmed in his bombastic new memoir Spare.

Harry was quick to defend Markle, telling his father, “Never talk like that about my wife,” reads the tome, which was accidentally published early in Spain.

“Charles told Harry that it was not right or appropriate for Meghan to be in Balmoral at such a sad time,” a source said, according to the Chron.

‘It was pointed out to him that Kate [Middleton] was not possible and that the numbers should really be limited to the immediate family.”

Harry, 38, and Meghan, 41, were in London in September when the Queen’s health was rapidly declining at Balmoral, their home in Scotland.

Many of the senior royals were immediately planning to fly to Balmoral, including Prince William, along with Andrew, Edward and his wife Sophie, the Chron reported on Saturday.

Around 90 minutes after Buckingham Palace announced the Queen’s poor health, a representative for Harry and Meghan said they would both be traveling to Scotland – but hours later it was made clear Harry would be doing it alone.

Harry says in his book that during this window of opportunity he was told by his father not to bring Meghan. Harry then flew to Scotland on a private jet and arrived after the Queen had already died.

Harry also writes in Spare that he found out about the Queen’s death after checking the BBC’s news website.
