‘Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse’ Fresh Footage Shown at CinemaCon, Titles of Part 2 Revealed

Sony today dropped the first 15 minutes of its upcoming Marvel animated sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse – Part I.

Additionally, the Culver City, CA studio revealed the title of the picture’s sequel (technically the third installment in the Marvel animated series): Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.

The studio recently announced that it will release the animated film, directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson, from October 7th to June 2nd, 2023. The picture’s sequel, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Part II, is dated March 29, 2024.

Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse will chronicle Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), the hero from the 2018 Academy Award winner for Best Animated Feature, as he meets Miguel O’Hara (Oscar Isaac) in Spider-Man 2099” merges. , and Spider-Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld) to face off against a powerful supervillain.

Returning producers are Phil Lord, Chris Miller, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad and Christina Steinberg; Alonzo Ruvalcaba is co-producer. Lord and Miller are also credited with writing the film alongside David Callaham. Spider-Verse director Peter Ramsey also returns as executive producer alongside Aditya Sood.

Lord and Miller took the stage before playing the raw footage, which was a mix of imperfect CGI, polished footage and sketches, and beamed, “We don’t have a sizzle reel. Here’s a secret. Please don’t say that to Tom (Rothman). Just say Whoo!” That came out a bit. “We were too busy shooting the movie.”

Issa Rae’s Jessica Drew shows up to join the fight on a motorcycle. She is a friend of O’Hara. A helicopter falls out of the sky and Gwen and O’Hara use their webs to keep them from falling and causing further damage.

Gwen meets her cop father and she tells him that she “didn’t murder Peter”. “Do you really think I’m a murderer? I’m your daughter.” Gwen’s father begins to read her her Miranda rights.

Footage switches to Miles Morales’ version of Earth. He and his parents meet with his principal at school. His Spidey senses are triggered and he leaves. The director, voiced by Rachel Dratch, tells his mother, “Your son is lying to you. And I think you know it.”

Said Sony studio head Tom Rothman had a warning for the competition regarding the upcoming Spider-Verse movies: “Watch out, damn it!”

He sneered, “I’ve got a reputation to uphold!”
