Jack Dorsey says Elon Musk is ‘the unique solution I trust’

Jack Dorsey, the co-founder of Twitter and current block head, has been reflecting on how he feels about Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter. in one tweet thread which begins with a link to Radiohead’s “Everything In Its Right Place,” Dorsey said, “Basically, I don’t think anyone should own or run Twitter. It wants to be a protocol-level public good, not a corporation. However, to solve the problem that it is a company, Elon is the only solution that I trust. I trust its mission to expand the light of consciousness.”

Earlier in the thread, he said that “Twitter is the closest thing to global consciousness.” Much of this “global consciousness” has been wondering for the past month whether or not Musk will actually buy the company. Before confirmation came yesterday, there was a time (ie a few weeks ago) when it seemed like a far-fetched idea.

Musk bought 9.2% of Twitter on April 4. Ten days later, he offered to buy Twitter for $42 billion, which was turned down the following day. However, reports surfaced on Monday that Twitter was close to a deal with Musk, and the company officially announced that it had accepted a $44 billion takeover bid from Musk yesterday.
