According to authorities, several people were injured and some kidnapped in an armed attack on a train station in Nigeria. The attack took place at the Igueben railway station in southern Nigeria, about 100 kilometers from Benin City, the Ministry of Transport announced today.
Men armed with Kalashnikovs attacked waiting travelers last night, Edo state police said. Police are looking for criminals and kidnappers. More details were not available. Up to 30 travelers have been hijacked in Nigerian media.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack. In March 2022, Boko Haram terrorists killed eight people and kidnapped several others in a raid on a train station near the capital Abuja. Rail traffic on the affected line was disrupted for eight months.
