Santo Domingo, January 8 (Prensa Latina) Dominican exports reached $12,390.9 million in 2022, media reported today.
According to Diario Libre, citing the Dominican Republic’s Export and Investment Center (ProDominicana), 47.2 percent of the above sum went to the United States, for a total of $5,848.3 million.
Switzerland ranked second at $1,33.3 million for 8.36 percent, and Haiti, which is said to be the country’s second-biggest trading partner, came third at $1.26 million.
The information indicated that the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic forecast exports of about $14,154.4 million for the last year, of which about 8,000 would correspond to 9.8 free zones.
Among the most prominent export products was gold, including platinum, raw, for non-monetary purposes (excluding powder), which accounted for 9.77 percent of the total at $1,210.1 million.
“Pure” cigars include blunt-cut and tobacco-containing “cigarillos” at 7.64 percent, as well as medical, surgical, or veterinary instruments and implements (7.08).
