Respiratory infections are increasing in El Salvador

Of the 11 epidemiological surveillance conditions, seven have increased since the end of 2022, the report said, noting that some are registering double the number of patients compared to the previous year.

The bulletin shows increases in suspected cases of dengue, chikungunya and Zika, as well as acute respiratory infections (ARIS), diarrhea and gastroenteritis, acute hepatitis A and febrile eruption diseases.

Among the seven, excluding Covid-19 and monkeypox, the greatest affection was found in those suspected of having dengue.

Statistics show that in the 52 weeks of 2022, 16,542 patients doubtfully affected by the disease accumulated, the highest number since 2020 and only experienced an increase of 186.7 percent compared to the previous year.
