Nancy Sinatra wishes Elvis Presley a happy birthday by sharing her favorite photo of old friends

Elvis Presley and Nancy Sinatra have long been rumored to be in a torrid and intense romance that arguably would have made them the IT celebrity power couple of their day.

And while both stars have denied being involved in a romance, their chemistry was undeniable, whether in a social setting or a work project, which included the one film they starred in together, Speedway (1968).

Over the years, the lead singer and dancer from These Boots Are Made For Walkin’ has admitted to being good friends with the King of Rock n’ Roll and took time out to update him on Twitter on Sunday, January 8th Happy birthday to congratulate.

On that day, the rock ‘n’ roll icon, who died in August 1977 at the age of 42, would have turned 88.

“Thinking of my dear friend on his birthday and wish he was still here to celebrate with us,” Sinatra, now 82, began in her tweet.

She added: “This is my favorite picture of Elvis and I. It shows the fun and affection we shared. Oh god how I miss him.”

The photo shows Presley sitting down with his hands around Sinatra’s waist as they both burst out laughing.

It looks like the picture was taken on the set of some kind of entertainment project, possibly their musical action film Speedway.

Sinatra first met Presley in March 1960 after her father arranged for her to meet him at his Army discharge press conference at McGuire AFB in New Jersey.

Frank Sinatra had sent his then 19-year-old daughter to greet Presley and help him promote his first post-army TV appearance on the Frank Sinatra Timex Show: Welcome Home Elvis, which aired in May 1960 .

From there, rumors of a romance between Presley, then considered the most famous man alive, and Sinatra seemed to gain momentum.

It got to the point where the Love Me Tender star had to address all the chatter with Priscilla Beaulieu, who he met while on duty in Germany in 1959.

In her book Elvis And Me, Priscilla said she asked him if he was intimate with Sinatra when he called her in the middle of the night one day.

“Elvis, but there were photographers and reporters here and they kept asking me questions, and — oh, Elvis, is it true that you’re meeting Nancy Sinatra,” she asked, as reported in Cheatsheet. “No, it’s not true that I see Nancy Sinatra,” he replied. He said the press often “makes trouble just to upset you”.

The Don’t Be Cruel rocker went on to explain that he’s just friends with Nancy, before explaining how he became a father: “I’m doing her dad’s show and everything was set up for her to be here at my press “It’s a conference when I got back to the States,” he said. “I miss you baby, I think about you all the time.”

Nancy Sinatra married her first husband, Tommy Sands, in September 1960, which would be approximately five years before they separated and then divorced.

Elvis and Priscilla married in May 1967, but that also ended in a divorce, which was finalized in 1973.
