His younger brother Aaron was found dead in a bathtub at his home in Lancaster, California on November 5, 2022.

And now it has been reported that Nick Carter, 42, has written a “very emotional” song about his “roller coaster relationship” with his late brother, who died aged 34.

It is also alleged that the Backstreet Boys crooner included previously unreleased footage of the couple’s childhood together in the track’s music video.

According to TMZ, Nick wrote and recorded a song about his “roller coaster relationship” with Aaron.

Sources told the publication, “Nick began working on the song shortly after Aaron’s death in November and as you’d expect – given the brothers’ history – it’s a very emotional track.”

The song is said to “express Nick’s unconditional love for Aaron and his heartbreak at seeing his brother never seem to find peace in his life.”

The publication also reports that the music video for the track has already been filmed and features previously unreleased childhood footage the brothers shared together.

The Backstreet Boys singer has teased on social media that a solo single release is set for Wednesday 11th January.

Nick – who collapsed on stage at London’s O2 while performing with the Backstreet Boys less than 24 hours after his brother’s death – had a fractured relationship with Aaron.

Following Aaron’s death, Nick posted several commemorative photos of the two together and wrote, “My heart was broken today.”

He continued, “Even though my brother and I had a complicated relationship, my love for him never waned.”

“I always held onto the hope that one day he would somehow find a healthy path and eventually find the help he so desperately needed.”

Nick’s caption elaborated further on his complicated feelings surrounding Aaron’s heartbreaking death, touching on the element of his younger brother’s longstanding battle with addiction.

He wrote: “Sometimes we want to blame someone or something for a loss. But the truth is, addiction and mental illness are the real villains here. I will miss my brother more than anyone will ever know.’

In 2019, Aaron announced on The Doctors that he had been diagnosed with “multiple personality disorder, schizophrenia, acute anxiety and manic depression,” according to CNN.

After his death, Aaron’s rep said he and Nick worked to iron out their differences prior to the tragedy.

Nick added that he still loves Aaron and hopes he “gets the right treatment he needs before he or anyone else is harmed.”

Aaron responded to the restraining order at the time by tweeting, “So my brother just got a restraining order on me. And I just got served lol.’

‘Watch out. @NickCarter we’re done for life,” he continued. “I haven’t seen him in four years. And I have no intention of… I am amazed at the allegations being leveled against me and I wish no harm, especially my family.’
