James Bond actor George Lazenby says Liam Hemsworth is “crazy enough” to play 007

James Bond actor George Lazenby believes Liam Hemsworth is brave enough to take on the role of 007.

The gig was left vacant by the departure of Daniel Craig, 54, from the franchise, and Australian actor Lazenby – who played Bond in 1969 – thinks fellow countryman Liam, 32, would be a perfect fit.

The 83-year-old told TMZ this weekend that Aussie star Hemsworth is “crazy enough, arrogant enough, confident enough, ambitious enough to take on the role.”

George also said that for an Australian actor to fit the picture, the new Bond has to be someone “living under the Commonwealth”.

The star added that Liam is a “handsome Aussie” and young enough to continue appearing on the show for years to come while retaining his looks.

George previously said he thinks Australian actress Margot Robbie could make a “brave” James Bond.

He said at the time he wanted the person who replaced Daniel Craig in the spy thriller franchise to be a woman.

He tipped the ‘Birds of Prey’ star, 32, for the iconic role, saying: ‘I’d rather see a woman on screen than a man, so maybe playing a woman James Bond would be a good idea to let … Jane Bond. I think that’s a good idea.’

He added: “I mean, why not? There’s an Australian actress that I just heard on TV today, Margot Robbie. She would be good. she is brave

“She seems like she’s very confident…if you can pull that off, people will believe you.”

However, James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli has insisted she is “not interested” in a super spy.

Daniel Craig has appeared in five of the Bond films, from Casino Royale to No Time To Die, and his departure has led to stiff competition for the role.

He received a Golden Globe nomination for his portrayal of 007 but declined to direct another Bond film.

Quitting led to a career leap for the actor, and he worked in real estate for a stint in the 1970s before returning to the big screen.

George will get back into the spy game and star in an audio series as the reluctant spy Dr. Jason Love perform.
