Andrew Tate’s lawyer claims there is “no evidence” of allegations of human trafficking, rape or organized crime against him or his brother.

The former professional kickboxer-turned-controversial influencer, 36, and his brother Tristan were arrested in Romania last month as part of an investigation by the Romanian Organized Crime Bureau.

Eugen Vidineac, who represents both brothers, told Romanian news site Gandul the defense was not given an opportunity to study the indictment file in the case.

“I would like to point out that the criminal investigation file has not yet been made available to us in order to ensure an effective defense of our clients.

“With that in mind, I want to point out, at least from that perspective I’m kind of amazed that there isn’t a single piece of evidence, apart from the victim’s testimony, that leads to the idea that rape was committed.”

Local media previously reported that the Tate brothers were hospitalized following a medical check-up.

Andrew Tate claims misogyny was “taken out of context,” lawyer says

More from Eugen Vidineac, the Tate brothers’ attorney:

Regarding claims the men despised women, Mr Vidineac said: “They say these issues are being taken out of context from some of the interviews they’ve conducted on social media.

“But they also say if we live our lives surrounded by 300+ people, women and men, we have many girlfriends and supporters around the world, we were in public with our girlfriends all the time and there weren’t any Complaints from our friends.

“People have come out publicly and said that they dated one of the Tate brothers and that he is not a violent, illiterate, abusive character as portrayed here.”

Mr Tate has been the subject of much criticism in recent weeks, largely over his views on women, which have been denounced as misogynistic.

In a video discussing feminism, Tate said women should “shut up, have kids, sit at home, be quiet and make coffee.”

Andrew Tate’s online ‘character’ cannot be used as evidence, lawyer claims

Eugen Vidineac, who is representing Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan, told Romania’s online newspaper Gandul that the far-right influencer’s online personality could not be used against him in court.

The lawyer said he believes the character portrayed by someone like Mr Tate on social media cannot be used as evidence in a criminal proceeding as it may not reflect who they are in real life.

Speaking about the role social media might play in the case, Mr Vidineac said: “In the case of the Tate brothers, I don’t know what their intention was to advertise on social media, but I’m sitting here wondering whether it is possible intent from social media as evidence in a criminal proceeding in relation to a criminal character?”

Romania’s agency for fighting organized crime, Diicot, said two British nationals and two Romanians were suspected on December 29 of being part of a criminal group focused on human trafficking.

Her appeals are being heard against a judge’s decision to extend her warrants from 24 hours to 30 days, Diicot added.

Andrew Tate’s account will be reposted

Andrew Tate’s account released another tweet referring to the “Matrix” after a previous post that said she was responsible for “attacking him.”

Mr Tate has previously claimed to believe that reality is a “matrix” – in reference to Keanu Reeves’ dystopian science film in which people are guided by computers to work until they die.

The latest tweet from his account, which also shared a message attributed to Mr Tate’s lawyer, read: “The Matrix doesn’t play fair, they play to win.”

In a recent exchange with climate activist Greta Thunberg, Tate released a bizarre video in which he accused Ms Thunberg of being a “slave to the Matrix”.

How To Beat Toxic Men Like Andrew Tate | comment

Sufjan Ahmed‘s take on the toxic culture behind the jailed influencer: News of Andrew Tate’s arrest was greeted with relief by many, hoping it will put an end to his relevance. In my view (and experience), however, the damage is done. Tate’s views, reinforced by social media, have already resulted in large numbers of young men of my generation being manipulated and without urgent action we could end up with a lost generation of young men. Let me tell you what I saw.

There’s no denying the immense reach that Tate has achieved. He was the most googled man in the summer of 2022. Videos with his hashtag have accumulated 13 billion views on TikTok. His mentoring program currently has 160,000 paying subscribers.

Once you get into what Tate is preaching to the masses, his social media reach is terrifying. Tate has made comments such as: “Women bear some responsibility for rape”; compared women to dogs and in a video with a fellow YouTuber proudly admitted to being a “total misogynist,” declaring that he is actually a “realist” and “if you’re a realist, you’re sexist.” The reinforcement of these views should terrify anyone.
