Veteran first baseman Brandon Belt reportedly signed a one-year contract with the Toronto Blue Jays Monday night.
According to the Sportsnet network, the 34-year-old Texan will receive a salary of $9.3 million as part of this pact.
Belt spent the first 12 seasons of his career with the San Francisco Giants. In California, he notably won two World Series and was invited to the All-Star Game in 2016.
However, his successful stint with the Giants ended in the infirmary. Plagued by a knee injury, he only played 78 games in 2022, in which he maintained a .213 batting average.
In his career, the left-hander has produced 584 runs and hit 175 long balls in 1,310 games.
Canada’s only major league baseball organization already counts on the services of Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Cavan Biggio at first base.
