Avatar 2: Video of Kate Winslet stopping interview to encourage reporter goes viral

Avatar: The Way of Water continued the events of the first film in the franchise and additionally marked the return of Kate Winslet and the director JamesCameron work together. In the film, the actress plays the leader of the Na’vi of the Metkayina tribe, Roland — but unlike her character, who remains very withdrawn throughout the storyline, Winslet demonstrated all of her kindness in a viral video in which she paused an interview to encourage an inexperienced reporter.

During the promotion of the new Avatar movie, the actress was interviewed by the German TV channel ZDF. The young reporter, dubbed Martha by Variety, told Winslet in an apparent moment of nervousness that this was her first interview, prompting the actress to reach out and support her interviewer.

“Is this your first time?” asked Winslet, continuing in the face of confirmation. “Okay, you know what? If we do this interview, it will be the most spectacular interview ever. And do you know why? Because we decided that it will be. So now we’ve decided, you and I, that this is going to be a really amazing interview.”

She then assured the reporter that she needn’t be nervous, saying:

“You can ask me anything you want and you don’t have to be afraid. Everything will be fantastic.” After receiving an “OK” from the reporter, Winslet continued: “OK? You can. Okay, let’s do it!”

Kate Winslet is due to return in the next films in the series, which have been confirmed by the director following the huge box office success of the second title. Future stories promise to feature different Na’vi tribes, in addition to a trip to Earth, according to the producer Jon Landau. Avatar: The Path of Water remains in theaters for now.
