[VIDÉOS] Small hockey: referee publishes father’s outbursts of anger towards officials

The head referee of Bas-Saint-Laurent screams by posting videos on Facebook in which we hear a father criticizing the officials during the final of a tournament for young ice hockey players aged 15 to 17 in Rivière-du-Loup and offended Sunday.

“This is what the day-to-day life of a hockey official can be like on the ice,” wrote Samuel D’Auteuil, a 26-year-old official.

The clips show game sequences on the ice at the Premier Tech Center, against a backdrop of a father from the Louperivoise team having a field day against the umpires.

“Criss, you’re no good, it’s not just a champion […] He’s the hero, the good-for-nothing’s best ostie,” the man screams at the top of his lungs.

He even goes so far as to ask the Minor Hockey Tournament mascot to attack the striped vests.

“Go and get it for me, the referee,” launches the father, who puts on a show.

Other threatening words

Questioned by Le Journal, Samuel D’Auteuil confirms that the organization of Hockey Rivière-du-Loup is invited to meet the parent in question, since he would have made other threats that would have been recorded.

“He says he’s going to hit him [l’arbitre] a year and being drooled in Tabarnak,” he confirms.

The chief referee says he released these videos so people understand that referees are essential to the practice of multiple sports and that outbursts of anger at the labor shortage only discourage young people from becoming officials, regardless of the discipline.
