Sources: WWE has been sold to the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia. The company is privatized again. It’s unknown if Vince McMahon will return as Head of Creative, but some are expecting it.
The news has been making the rounds around the internet for the past few hours, shared and also supported by sources such as SportKeeda and CinemaBlend.
The main effect of selling WWE to the Saudi Arabia Public Investment Fund would be to return it to a private company. This would consequently lead to its delisting from the exchanges.
This leak came within hours of the announcement of Stephanie McMahon’s retirement from her corporate roles in WWE. Press release in which Vince McMahon’s daughter announced several changes in the corporate structure of the Stamford-based pro wrestling companions.
Vince McMahon’s return to WWE
All of this corporate news comes less than a week after Vince McMahon’s return to the WWE Board of Directors. News that in the last few hours had caused the company’s stock value to rise to highs not seen in over three years.
According to the press release in which his daughter Stephanie announced her retirement, Vince McMahon has returned to fill the role of CEO of the company, as announced on the company’s website dedicated to the business section. The board would have voted unanimously to return McMahon to the role he held until last June.
McMahon will not be resuming the CEO role, which is now entirely in the hands of Nick Khan, at least for now. As announced by Stephanie herself, Triple H remains in the role of CCO.
