Austin Butler wished his girlfriend Kaia Gerber’s ex Jacob Elordi well after he was tapped as the next actor to play Elvis in a new biopic about Priscilla Presley.
When asked what he thinks of the Euphoria star, 25, who is next channeling the Hound Dog singer in A24’s upcoming film Elvis and Me, based on Priscilla’s 1985 memoir, the 31-year-old actor sends his predecessor some words of encouragement.
“I wish him all the best,” the star, who won his first Golden Globe on Tuesday night for his role as the “King of Rock ‘n’ Roll” in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, told Variety.

He continued: “We haven’t spoken but I hope he has a great time.”
While there appears to be no animosity between the two actors, Butler’s girlfriend, 21, previously dated Elordi for just over a year between 2020 and late 2021.
Coincidentally, the former couple made their relationship official on Instagram by posting a sweet snap of them dressed as Elvis and Priscilla Presley for Halloween in October 2020.

Austin, who dated actress Vanessa Hudgens from 2011 to 2020, was first romantically linked to Kaia in late 2021 before they officially walked the red carpet in May 2022.

They confirmed their romance by appearing together at the Met Gala last year and then jetted to Cannes together, where she supported him at the premiere of Elvis.
In December, the couple enjoyed a family trip to Mexico with Kaia’s parents, Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, as well as brother Presley and his girlfriend.
The model was dating Saturday Night Live’s Lothario Pete Davidson in late 2019 when he was 26 and she had just turned 18.
