In 2022, Uruguay exported two thousand 444 million dollars worth of this product, and China took most of it, said the institution dedicated to the international promotion of economy, investment and image.
The Asian giant, the South American country’s top trading partner, bought 58 percent of exported products, followed by the European Union and the United States.
Even so, the amount going to China fell 5.8 percent compared to the 572,254 tons sold in 2021, according to a report by the National Meat Institute (INAC).
Meat sales to the European Union, Israel, Japan and Mercosur also fell.
The only destination showing progress was the United States, with a 12 percent annual increase (78,572 tons) and a 14 percent share of Uruguayan beef exports.
