Brittany Hockley and Laura Byrne took a swipe at the final season of The Bachelor on Wednesday when they poked fun at the Channel 10 show’s dwindling budget.

The BBFs, who are both former Bachelor finalists, posted a mocking clip on the Instagram account of their podcast, Life Uncut, comparing the latest dates to last year’s season.

In the video, which took the form of an “expectation” vs. “reality” meme, they contrasted the extravagant adventures of Jimmy Nicholson’s season with the humble “tree swing date” set for one of this year’s suitors, Thomas Malucelli. was arranged.

The stars of Season 9 flocked to the comments section to poke fun at the final season, with Jimmy himself commenting, “To be fair I’m still paying the debt for hiring all this stuff so he’s a smarter man than me.”

Former contestants Holly Kingston and Lily Price also got involved.

Holly, who is still dating Jimmy after he picked her as his winner, said: “Look, it’s a lot more realistic this year. We’ve gone from dating on private planes to dating to train our cat to go to the toilet. It was a tough adjustment.’

Lily wrote: “I just want to see everyone go insane about skydiving and someone cry and win time alone because she was brave. I thought skydiving was a rite of passage on this show.’

It comes as the matchmaking series is struggling to hold onto its viewers as fears have grown that Channel 10 may finally be swinging the axe.

Despite a major upset and intriguing storylines, The Bachelors only drew 273,000 Tube viewers in its second installment.

The season ten premiere had an audience of 309,000 viewers on the Metro in five cities, with 405,000 viewers nationally.

With viewership at an all-time low, industry insiders are speculating that Season 10’s low numbers could be the nail in the coffin for the dating series.

A well-placed source told Chron Australia the program is “done and dusted” and will not return in any form in 2024.
