Prince Harry’s former fling Catherine Ommanney has called Meghan Markle “manipulative and controlling” and said she “would have loved it if he had married someone like Kate Middleton”.
The 51-year-old “Real Housewives of DC” star, who appeared on GB News last night, told host Dan Wootton that the Duke of Sussex is “not the person” she once knew.
The mother of three, who grew up in London, claims she had a month-long affair with royals in 2006 when she was 34 and he was 21.
Though she has yet to read Prince Harry’s memoir, which hit shelves on Tuesday, the reality star says she was “shocked” to hear about some of the most controversial revelations – including the Duke detailing how he lost his virginity to an unknown elderly woman a field behind a pub.

“I have absolutely no idea why [he’s done this],’ She said. “But I’m shocked.”
When quizzed about Harry’s marriage, Catherine admitted, “I would have loved it if he’d gotten together with someone like Kate, who’s fit for the role.
“But in my opinion he actually chose someone who is almost the complete opposite and I’m really very sad because he dug a really big hole for himself.”
Additionally, the reality star says she’s “delighted” the Queen wasn’t able to read Prince Harry’s bombshell book.

Elsewhere in the interview, Catherine says she disagrees with her former lover for revealing how many members of the Taliban he killed while serving in Afghanistan.
She angrily added, “What’s he doing?”
When Dan speculated he was “ill-advised” by a PR team, Catherine added, “I mean, look who he’s dating. [Meghan is] manipulated and controlled and he’s not the guy I met.
“I know it’s been a long time but I really don’t think he’s the person I met at all.”
In his recent television interview with Tom Bradby, Prince Harry said he has “never been happier” since leaving the royal family and moving to Montecito, California. However, the Duke’s former lover questioned whether that was really the case.
She continued, “He says he’s happy, but he doesn’t really look happy to me […] He looks as sad as I’ve ever seen him.”

After their romance fizzled in 2006, Catherine said she always remained friends with the prince, and told how he “walked past security” to greet her years later at an event they both attended.
She continued, “I still have a lot of respect for him and vice versa. But I’m just really sad for him and I’m sad for the monarchy and the royal family.
In November 2022, Catherine said in an interview with The Sun she first met Prince Harry, now 38, at a bar in Chelsea when he was still in a long-term on-off relationship with socialite Chelsy Davy.
She says that after meeting at a bar, the two went to Eclipse nightclub in South Kensington together before heading to one of his friend’s houses.

There, she says, they shared a cigarette outside on the stairs [Harry] really open to [her]’.
After going back inside, she claims Harry made them all bacon sandwiches, fought with his friends, and gave her a kiss before going home.
Catherine claims they met a few more times before the romance fizzled out, and it wasn’t until 2009, a year after marrying her second husband (whom she is now separated from), that the pair met again at a polo match.
She described him at the time as “a very brave, charismatic, incredibly funny, intelligent and lovely person”.
