A Canadian school board has called for a new “professional” dress code for teachers after months of backlash over a trans teacher with “clownesque” giant prosthetic breasts.
Trustees of the Halton District School Board unanimously passed a motion Jan. 3 directing the director of education to develop a policy to ensure “appropriate and professional standards of dress and decorum in the classroom,” Fox News reported.
The district education director, Curtis Ennis, has until March 1 to draft the policy.
“HDSB’s commitment to human rights remains rooted in our core values and commitment to each and every student and employee who identifies as a member of an underserved and underrepresented group, and our approach is informed by opinions of leading labor and human rights law firms equity advisors,” said Ennis .
“This commitment and approach will continue to be applied as the HDSB seeks to fulfill this request.”
The school board trustees asked the director of education to develop a professionalism policy.
Photos of the Oakville Trafalgar High School teacher, identified by local media as Kayla Lemieux, went viral in September and quickly garnered worldwide attention.
The snaps, taken by students, show the blonde preschool teacher in tight clothing, showing off her gigantic Z-size breast prostheses as she teaches in the classroom. Huge nipples also protrude from her fake, balloon-like bust.
The stunning photos quickly sparked protests, angry complaints and even multiple bomb threats at the Oakville school, located about 20 miles outside of Toronto.
The Oakville Trafalgar High School teacher has garnered a lot of attention online.
The school board continues to support the educator, calling her “an extremely effective teacher.”
The school board remains behind the transgender teacher, who identified as female last year, according to the Toronto Sun.
“This teacher (who teaches shop) is an extremely effective teacher,” Halton District School Board chair Margo Shuttleworth previously said.
