Warren “Butch” Marion, an 82-year-old former Marine, still couldn’t enjoy the joys of retirement until a man touched by his story failed to raise more than $100,000 through an online fundraiser.

He had started working at age 11, had served in the Navy for ten years, but at 82 was still unable to retire. Warren “Butch” Marion was a cashier at Walmart, a famous American retail chain, earlier this year. “Shifts of 8 or 9 hours, 30 hours a week,” testifies to the American media of the one who allowed him to get out of this situation.

The owner of another store in this Maryland town was touched after meeting the old man while he was buying batteries at the store and decided to help him. With a good audience on Tiktok, he conveys the story of “Butch”. The latter first retired years ago while working for General Motors. It was then that he made the decision to take care of his ex-wife’s husband before he died. But with bills he was struggling to pay, such as his home loan, he had to go back to work, this time at Walmart.

His benefactor has posted a fundraiser online to raise funds so “Butch” can enjoy his well-deserved rest. Two similar stories, including one about another Walmart employee, also 82, inspired him. The online pots had allowed enough donations to be registered for the two veterans to stop working.

And again, more than $100,000 was raised in just a few weeks. The check went to “Butch,” who was eventually able to retire. The money raised will allow him to repay his loan, pay his late bills and visit his family in Florida, whom he hasn’t seen in too long…
