King Charles appears in high spirits amid Harry, Meghan’s scream

King Charles III and other members of the royal family appeared to avoid Prince Harry as they made their first public appearance on Thursday since the publication of the Duke’s memoir, Spare.

Britain’s new monarch, 74, was in high spirits as he chatted to well-wishers but did not immediately comment on recent upsets as he arrived for a visit to the Aboyne Community Shed in a village in Scotland to meet representatives of local support groups.

The low-key trip of Harry and William’s father, the monarch’s first public event this year, was in stark contrast to recent high-profile coverage of Duke’s Spare, which hit shelves a month after the release of a six-part Netflix documentary series about him and Meghan.

William and his wife Kate, who were also targeted by Harry in his book, were all smiles as they visited a hospital in northern England on the same day.

They all beamed as they chatted to people in two different locations, despite the spate of headlines that followed the release of his youngest son’s memoir.

According to its publisher, Transworld Penguin Random House, Spare is already the fastest-selling non-fiction book of all time. The book doesn’t hold back in its criticism of the royal family, with allegations of a falling-out between William and Harry, claiming Camilla had an “agenda” to repair her public image as the “other woman” in his father’s marriage .

Meghan Markle’s husband Harry appeared to share very private details about his family, known for the Queen’s mantra: “Never complain, never explain.” Stories about Charles include claims that he walked a “pathetic teddy bear” that had “broken arms and dangling strings.”
