Samsung polishes its foldable flagship smartphone. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 takes one of the features of the Note series (compatibility with the S Pen) and gets the latest components at a significantly lower price. The formula for success?
Although it looks very similar to the Z Fold 2, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 brings some notable improvements over its predecessor. This smartphone gains performance thanks to its Snapdragon 888 chip, benefits from a reassuring IPx8 certification and is entitled to two very good screens. The folding plate that hides inside the device is embellished with an under-screen camera, which certainly serves more as a technological demonstration than a useful option, but also with the welcome support of the S Pen. We can certainly regret that this stylus has to be bought as an extra must that the autonomy of the whole falls behind compared to the Z Fold 2 and that its photographic component remains among the leaders of the moment. But as it stands, the Z Fold 3 is arguably Samsung’s most successful folding model despite its lower price point compared to the Z Fold 2’s everyday usability of a mini tablet.
strong points
- Two very successful exhibitions.
- Samsung dares to put the camera under the screen.
- Full of power.
- S Pen compatibility is finally here…
- … also poetry!
weak points
- A still heavy model whose format may not please you.
- The S Pen must be purchased separately.
- Aggressive photo editing.
- Less autonomy compared to the Z Fold 2
NB: The reported price drop is calculated by comparing the lowest price of the day with the average of the lowest prices requested by all retailers for the product in the last month, with security rules to exclude prices from stores whose VAT policy is not clear (known as “grey” shops, typically with imports from China).
