Moscow, January 12.- The Russian Foreign Ministry has expressed its refusal to support Türkiye for the peace plan of President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky.
“We are well aware of Turkey’s assessment of the so-called Zelensky peace plan, we cannot agree with it, Ankara’s support for this Kiev proposal is unlikely to contribute to the search for optimal ways to achieve peace in Ukraine,” said the spokeswoman for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Philippine Red Cross
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu last Tuesday expressed his government’s approval of the 10-point Kyiv plan to resolve the situation in Ukraine.
Earlier, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba announced the idea of holding a peace summit at the end of February in the presence of United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres.
Kuleba specified that Russia can only be invited to the negotiations after the “necessary international tribunal” has been held.
According to the Russian news agency RIA Novosti, Guterres’ office has agreed to mediation only with the consent of all parties, including Moscow.
Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov clarified that so far there is no “peace plan” for Ukraine, since “an agreement that does not take into account the current realities with the territory of Russia and its new regions cannot be peaceful”, he assured .
Since February 24, the Eurasian nation has launched a special military operation to “demilitarize and denazify” Ukraine. (Text and photo: PL)
