For the first time this season, the Boston Bruins lost their regular-time flag at TD Garden. The Seattle Kraken won 3-0 on Thursday with another strong performance from Martin Jones.

The 33-year-old goaltender knocked out a second straight Atlantic squad after frustrating the Montreal Canadiens 21 times on Monday. This time he stood like a wall in front of the hosts’ 27 attempts.
The Bruins, who started the game 19-0-3 at home, suffered their first shutout loss of the season.
The Kraken struck at every engagement to win. Brandon Tanev opened the scoring by deflecting a shot from a tight angle in the first period, then Eeli Tolvanen and Jaden Schwartz added their two cents before the duel ended.
Tolvanen is proving to be a real bargain for the Washington State team. Since leaving the Nashville Predators, the Finland winger has scored four goals and six points in seven games.
The recent Bettman Tour organization has enjoyed a six-game winning streak, five of which have been against Eastern Conference teams.
Unanswered without Matthews
In Detroit, the absence of Auston Matthews hurt the Toronto Maple Leafs, who lost 4-1 to the Red Wings.
Matthews, who was ruled out for a second straight game due to an injury the nature of which was not disclosed, watched as his teammates took on a Ville Husso who was in full possession of his means.
Only defender Rasmus Sandin belied his vigilance with a shot that ricocheted off Dylan Larkin’s bat.
The Red Wings captain bounced back well, orchestrating goals from Lucas Raymond and Ben Chiarot. The former CH shook the ropes of an abandoned cage at the end of the game.
Almost 20 seconds before the end, youngster Moritz Seider completed the goal with a laser from the blue line. The bad luck of the second year also appears to have hit the German defender, who has just 18 points in 40 games after amassing 50 last season.
Ilya Samsonov has had much better nights before the Toronto cage. He only made 19 saves, down from 32 for his opponent.
The Jets win again
In Buffalo, the Winnipeg Jets celebrated their sixth win in their last seven games, beating the Sabers 4-2 thanks to 39 saves from Connor Hellebuyck.
The goalie was solid throughout the game which allowed Kyle Connor to control the end of the game. The sniper was all alone against Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen on a good delivery from Nikolaj Ehlers. Connor served the Finnish keeper a superb fake to put the Jets ahead.
Karson Kuhlman then closed the books on a pass from Connor in an empty net. Josh Morrissey and Dylan Samberg also shook the ropes for the visitors.
It’s the third straight loss, each time at the KeyBank Center, for the Sabers.
