In Argentina, a woman has been accused of cutting off her trumpet-playing husband’s penis and burying a knife in the dead man’s eyeball.

Florencia Amado Cattaneo, 41, has now been arrested by police for the horrific alleged murder and has been sent for a psychiatric evaluation.

The body of victim Pedro Federico Zarate was reportedly found at the couple’s home in Altos de San Lorenzo, with a knife in his eye and mutilated genitals.

Cattaneo – a psychologist – was arrested on January 11 after fleeing “with bloodstains on her hands” in a taxi to her mother’s house, her sister Patricia told local media.

The body of her 50-year-old husband was found by his sister-in-law on the bed in the apartment he shared with his wife and five-year-old son.

According to local media reports, he had stab wounds all over his body, including his chest, and his genitals were mutilated.

Amado Cattaneo has been admitted to the psychiatric ward of a medical center in La Plata, where she will undergo tests. If she’s found mentally incompetent, she won’t face trial, investigators and prosecutors say.

Footage from the police station when Cattaneo arrived showed her being helped by grimacing officers, local reports said.

Local news said despite being taken to the train station on a warm night, she was pictured wearing a jacket over her dress.
