Lucy Alves, Breeze from ‘Travessia’: ‘I don’t put bisexuality in the spotlight’

She is the protagonist of the 21h soap opera, has had more than six million reproductions of her songs on Spotify, sang with Roberto Carlos, toured, performed at Rock in Rio, reached the finale of “The Masked Singer”, promoted a beauty brand . .. Furious!

Travessia’s Breeze is happy with what she’s achieved, but doesn’t see herself slowing down any time soon and she’s full of dreams she still wants to fulfill. Including motherhood, as she tells in an interview universeunder.

In the chat, conducted via video call, Lucy also says she is trying to protect herself from the negative comments about the soap opera that have taken over social media. “In the beginning, it really touched me when someone said the protagonist wasn’t cool. But I’ve learned and I’ve matured,” he says.

UNIVERSA There is a tendency to stereotype Northeastern characters in telenovelas and cast actors from other regions. They come from Paraíba and live in Maranhão. Why is it important to be in this place during prime time?
Lucy Alves
I think it’s important to be on prime time TV so many girls and teenagers can hear me. It’s a very nice responsibility. Anything I can do to represent the region I come from will be honorable and true. We live in a different time, with more openness to show the diversity of the country to represent all regions. Our truth is different, which I have also lived culturally. I carry with me the veracity of the accent.

“Travessia” suffers harsh criticism. To speak badly of the telenovela in a way is to speak badly of your work. How do you deal with that?
We will never please 100% of the people. What I try to do is do my job well so I can be calm and proud. I was brave to start as a protagonist right away, but that’s life. A friend told me that people could speak ill of my work. And they could, but if I didn’t, I don’t know what people would say. We need to know what criticism is going to happen and move on. It is difficult. We know some people suffer in ways that affect their health, but thank God I’ve learned to have some peace of mind and understand my limitations.

Do you have more fans or more haters?
I’m an artist who doesn’t have a lot of haters, which is good. In general, people are very peaceful and loving. I like to read and I’m always on Twitter because a lot of people who watch the soap opera comment there in real time. But you can’t stick to comments on social media 100%. It is necessary to understand that the absolute truth of the audience does not exist and that it is difficult to have a real thermometer. So I learned to filter what I read and what I take to bed with me. The internet can be very toxic. In the beginning it really touched me when someone said the protagonist wasn’t cool. But I’ve learned and I’ve matured. I want to record what is uplifting for my career.

You are in a relationship with another woman. What was the public reaction like when you made this public?
Some people felt comfortable commenting and asking about my way of life. I’ve always been very reserved, but I was in no shock when it turned out that I was kissing Victoria [Zanetti, produtora]’Cause I’ve already lived my life I don’t usually pull that into the limelight because I find my work more interesting than my intimacy. It’s not taboo and I always find it more interesting to be able to speak openly. I hope people don’t see it as an example, but as the right that we have to do what we want and be as happy as we want.

The more openly I can talk about love, the more beautiful and special it becomes.

Since his involvement with The Voice, the accordion has become one of his trademarks. What does the instrument represent for you, in your life and in your life? career?
For me it carries the culture and my family who also loves music. I am an instrumentalist and have always enjoyed playing different instruments. When I was studying others, like mandolin and bass, my father told me to learn the accordion, it would be my great fortune. And he was right. The accordion is very powerful. It is not a traditional instrument for women because it is very heavy, it has always been used by many men, it belongs to the male universe. I am grateful for the avenues the accordion has opened up for me, whether in soap operas or in concert. It’s an instrument that I really appreciate.

Do you feel like you’ve fulfilled your musical dreams?
I did a lot of stuff and it was really cool. I let life take me, but somehow I direct it to what I want to do. I always had an artist in mind and music is very strong for me. It comes from the family. I love performing, singing and playing. I want to do a lot: make music films, compose soundtracks… Those are things I enjoy. I’m glad I have the opportunity to work with it. I am happy on the path I have chosen.

The compatibility of your acting and singing careers will surely lead you to make choices that put either side at a disadvantage. What are your priorities when deciding which path to take?
Today I see myself as a singer and an actress, although I know that it takes a lot of energy to devote yourself to both professions. i go for the heart Today the musical work has a greater consistency, something I follow and project. Acting career is younger, but no less important. I always try to play roles that touch me and I try to balance both. For example: I’m going to finish the soap opera and I have shows to do. You might find a balance in the dynamics. But music still weighs a little bit more. Whenever a project calls me on television or cinema, I will analyze it carefully, but I will look for a balance. Once an actress, we don’t go back.

In Travessia, motherhood is a central theme in her character’s life. And in yours?
I really want to be a mother, but there is no right time for it. If it has to be, it will be. I’m in a hurry at work, I’m a runner, I like to work. But I come from a big family and I have this desire. I said I wanted to have five children, today I don’t know. I would like at least two.

Are you a fan of aesthetic procedures and procedures, or do you value daily care?
I prefer to take care of my beauty as it is, especially since I work a lot with my image. People lose themselves, follow fashions, are adept at cosmetic procedures, and even change their configuration. I am very careful. For example, my face and body are always very exposed. I like how I am. I am happy with my body and my skin. What I’m trying to do is get more and more concerned with preventing it.

What is your daytoday care like?
It’s pretty easy. For the face, for example, it means waking up and washing well, with good soap, lots of sunscreen because I’m always exposed to a lot of light on set and on the street. For me, moisture and sun protection are a complete combination. I have two Vult products that I have fallen in love with, the 7×1 pots, which fit perfectly into my lifestyle. I also do exercises that help with my concentration and a good diet. Everything is a balance. I don’t want to be held hostage by norms, I never have. I’ve never been interested in that. I grew up wanting to enhance and see my own beauty. That’s me, my curves, my pants and that’s part of my anatomy.
