The institution appealed against the association’s decision in mid-December. Three independent umpires met earlier this week and removed the sport penalties from the penalty package.
The collegiate formation has thus regained the right to participate in next season’s playoffs and championship game. She will therefore be promoted to Division 2 based on her performance over the past two years.
“We are pleased to finally be able to bring this unfortunate event to an end. We want to put an unfortunate event behind us and move forward and meet the challenges that lie ahead. The promotion to Division 2 and access to the playoffs will allow those in charge of our football team to prepare well for the 2023 season, especially in terms of recruiting new players,” explained the general manager of the Cégep at a press conference. Beauce-Appalachia, Caroline Bouchard.
Cégep has yet to bear the cost of repairing the trophy, which was badly damaged by players after the win, according to various photos and videos posted on social networks. The facility must also pay a $10,000 fine.
Since the RSEQ was unable to select a specific player, all members of the Condors, including the coaching staff, must undergo an ethics course offered by the Réseau by June.
Accompanying the sanctions will also be a two-year suspended sentence to allow for a new incident involving Cégep Beauce-Appalaches in the near future to take into account recent events.
