Montreal Canadiens defenseman Mike Matheson showed up for practice in Brossard on Friday in the jersey of a regular, allowing him to return to action this weekend.

The Quebecer has not played since December 17 due to a lower body injury but his wait appears to be over. Unlike the days before, he ran with a contact-allowing bib number, suggesting a return to competition. His teammates will visit the Islanders on Saturday and the Rangers the following day during a trip to the New York area.
Matheson has six points in ten games this season.
