The National Association of Scouts of Haiti denounced in a statement that a person named Jean Ronel, with no title or capacity, used the organization’s name to sign the December 21 consensus.
“No one, not even the highest officials of the National Association of Haitian Scouts (ANSH), can involve the Haitian Scouts in any political issue, file, faction, negotiation, project, and generally anything of the sort that has a political connotation , a trend or a purpose,” the steering committee said.
For these reasons, the signature of Jean Ronel in the name or mention of the Scouts of Haiti or the ANSH is null and void, the platform stated and announced that they intend to prosecute the perpetrator before the judicial authorities.
For its part, the Committed to Development (EDE) party, led by former Foreign Minister Claude Joseph, has also denied any affiliation with Prime Minister Ariel Henry’s initiative.
“Ariel Henry’s friends and cronies have placed the name EDE among the organizations that signed the December 21, 2022 agreement. The Committed to Development Party did not sign junk agreements between cronies. Beware of usurpers,” Joseph wrote on Twitter.
Late last year, Henry announced a new agreement called the National Consensus for an Inclusive Transition and Transparent Elections, signed by hundreds of political and civil society organizations, as well as private sector representatives.
However, the main parties have yet to join in criticizing the prime minister’s management, who has been in charge of government since the assassination of former President Jovenel Moïse in July 2021.
The opposition gathered in the Montana Agreement, a civil society consensus seeking solutions to the crisis, also distanced itself from the government project and called for Henry’s resignation.
