In June 2019 the US journalist Elizabeth Jean Carroll had publicly accused the then President United States Donald Trump for sexual assault. Three years later, Carroll sued the tycoon in court rape and defamation. He had done so under the Adult Survivors Act, a state law that allows rape victims to file a lawsuit years after the violence they suffered. The complaint
