Peru: Government declares state of emergency in different areas ANSA news agency

(ANSA) — LIMA, JAN 14 — The government of President Dina Boluarte last night declared a state of emergency for 30 days due to ongoing serious social tensions in various areas of Peru.

The decree states that “the National Police of Peru, with the support of the Armed Forces, will maintain control of internal order”, adding that the measure will be “applied to five highways, which are the South Pan-American and the North Pan-American , the Central, the South Apurímac-Cusco-Arequipa Road Corridor and the South Interoceanic Highway Corridor”.

Finally, the decree introduces a mandatory 10-day curfew in the Puno region, requiring all people to stay at home between 8 p.m. and 4 a.m. the next morning. (HAND).
